Our Story

Number 71 is born from our family’s passion for great tasting food. It is the product of many years of experiencing and experimenting with ways in which to make the flavours even better. We believe that food is the heart of a great family, and it is our family which is at the heart of Number 71. We invite you to share in our passion for creating inspirational meals. 

Peperoncino is our debut flavour. It is born from our family’s passion for chillies, and the warmth which they can bring to a meal. Peperoncino is a simple, yet powerful accompaniment to almost any dish. It can be used as a condiment, like mustard, or as a sauce ingredient to add spice and flavour, and to provide a certain “lift” to the dish. In our family we use it on pizzas, in sandwiches, on pasta dishes, and with curries.

Every day we are presented with a new idea of how this versatile sauce can be deployed to enhance a great meal!

About Us

We are an Anglo-Persian family with close ties to France and mediteranean Europe. Leila was born in Persia, and was educated in France, Italy and England. Leila developed her passion for cooking, having learned from her grandmother and mother. Ed and Leila live in London with their four children, who have all inherited their parent’s passion for cooking and experiencing  great food.
